Empowering Veterans: Liberty Manor Receives Spirit of Humanity Award
The DeBartolo Family Foundation is proud to present Liberty Manor for Veterans with a 2021 Spirit of Humanity Award. The $25,000 donation will help Liberty Manor transition homeless and disabled veterans to self-sufficiency. The Spirit of Humanity award honors local nonprofit organizations that impact the Tampa Bay community in a meaningful way.
Founded in 2006, Liberty Manor for Veterans promotes the developmental and social needs of veterans who have served our country but have fallen victim to homelessness. The non-profit organization provides housing and establishes long-term objectives designed to prevent future homelessness.
“We are honored to support the Liberty Manor for Veterans with our Spirit of Humanity Award,” said Lisa DeBartolo, Chief Executive Officer of the DeBartolo Family Foundation. “Veterans face unique challenges when separating from service and returning to civilian life and we hope our grant can help empower those who have sacrificed so much for us to overcome this adversity and thrive in our community.”
“This grant is such a great opportunity and Liberty Manor for Veterans appreciates everything that the renown DeBartolo Family Foundation has done for our great community,” said Connie Lindsay, Chief Executive Officer of Liberty Manor for Veterans. “We do not receive any government funding and have successfully transitioned over a thousand veterans in only fourteen years of service. When blessed by a donation it allows us to be in a position to serve thousands more veterans for years to come.”
Recipients of the Spirit of Humanity award create unity, demonstrate hard work, and extend their outreach by helping people in need to overcome obstacles that are beyond their control. Since 2002, 54 recipients have been recognized with the $25,000 Spirit of Humanity Award, awarded three times annually.
