DeBartolo Family Foundation Supports Heart Gallery of Tampa With Spirit of Humanity Award
The DeBartolo Family Foundation is proud to present the Heart Gallery of Tampa with a $25,000 Spirit of Humanity Award. The award honors local nonprofit organizations that impact the Tampa Bay community in a meaningful way.
The Heart Gallery of Tampa is a nonprofit organization that helps find forever families for Tampa’s most at-risk foster children. Heart Gallery of Tampa takes professional portraits of foster children who are often passed over for adoption and displays them in public spaces like shopping centers and churches to introduce the children and plant the seed of adoption to potential families.
According to Lindsay Hermida, the Heart Gallery of Tampa’s Executive Director, the $25,000 donation will help push the organization forward with new and creative approaches to adoption recruitment and to support children during their time in the program. The activities include online and targeted adoption recruitment, adoption support and advocacy, prospective adoptive family engagement, and improving the quality of life for children as they wait to be adopted.
“We are honored to support the Heart Gallery of Tampa with our Spirit of Humanity Award,” said Lisa DeBartolo, Chief Executive Officer of the DeBartolo Family Foundation. “Giving foster children a face and voice is an incredible way to raise awareness for the need of adoption in our community.”
Recipients of the Spirit of Humanity award create unity, demonstrate hard work, and extend their outreach by helping people in need to overcome obstacles that are beyond their control. Since 2002, 55 recipients have been recognized with the $25,000 Spirit of Humanity Award, awarded three times annually.
