Empowering Women: Celebrating Hillsborough House of Hope’s Spirit of Humanity Award
The DeBartolo Family Foundation is thrilled to recognize Hillsborough House of Hope as the latest recipient of the Spirit of Humanity Award. This remarkable organization, dedicated to empowering women transitioning from challenging circumstances, exemplifies the core values of compassion, perseverance, and community upliftment that this award celebrates.
Since its inception in 2002, the Spirit of Humanity Award has honored local nonprofits that make a profound impact on the Tampa Bay community. Along with this prestigious recognition, each recipient receives a $25,000 donation to help further their mission and expand their outreach to those in need.
Lisa DeBartolo, Chief Executive Officer of the DeBartolo Family Foundation, shared her admiration for Hillsborough House of Hope, “Hillsborough House of Hope embodies the true spirit of humanity by providing women with the tools and support they need to rebuild their lives. We are honored to recognize their incredible work and hope this award helps them continue making a lasting impact on our community.”
Hillsborough House of Hope provides shelter and essential support for women in transition, empowering them to rebuild their lives and achieve self-sufficiency. Their programs cater to women overcoming incarceration, substance abuse, or domestic violence, offering a safe space where they can heal and grow while reuniting with their children and families.
Michele Plosker, President of the Hillsborough House of Hope Board of Directors, expressed her gratitude for this recognition, “The impact this Award will have on us is truly a blessing. We will be able to further provide the women we serve life skills that they need to transition back into society, become productive citizens, and reunite with their children and families.”
With services like living accommodations, individual and group therapy, and job assistance, Hillsborough House of Hope addresses both immediate needs and long-term success. Guided by their mission, the organization helps women realize their full potential and embrace the purpose for which they were created.
The Spirit of Humanity Award reflects the DeBartolo Family Foundation’s commitment to uplifting the Tampa Bay community by supporting organizations that foster unity, hard work, and resilience. Over the past two decades, more than 63 nonprofits have been recognized.
